A: According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, you should have received your new Medicare card by now. So, yes, you need to do something.
Call Medicare on their toll-free number 1-800-633-4227. Once they verify you are who you say you are, they’ll check to make sure they have the right mailing address on file. They’ll help you get your new card.
You can actually print your own Medicare card if you’ve set up a personal account on www.MyMedicare.gov. If you haven’t set up an account on www.MyMedicare.gov, you might want to consider doing that now.
It’s free. In addition to getting the scoop on your new Medicare card, you can use your account to look up your coverage and claims information. You’ll need to provide your Medicare number (you can use the old one for now if you don’t know the new one), your date of birth, mailing address and Part A effective date.
Getting back to your new Medicare card, be sure to destroy the old one after you receive the new one. And start using it right away.
